    My favorite DC Stories are: Geoff John's Flash (Blitz, Crossfire, The Secret of Barry Allen, Rouge War, and the various Rogue Profiles) Mark Waid's Flash (Born To Run: Flash Year One and Terminal Velocity as well as introducing the Speed Force, Bart Allen Impulse, Jessie Quick, and Max Mercury) Marv Wolfman and George Perez's The New Teen Titans (The Judas Contract, The Brother Blood Saga, The Coming to Trigon, The 2nd Trigon Saga, and introducing Victor Stone Cyborg, Raven, Starfire, Jericho, Trigon, Deathstroke, Cheshire, Psimon, Shimmer, Mammoth, Jinx, Gizmo, Blackfire, The H.I.V.E., The Pisons, The Tamereans, and tons of others) The Death and Rebirth of Superman (introducing Superboy, John Henry Irons Steel, The Eradicator, Hank Henshaw Cyborg Superman, and Doomsday) Blue Beetle by Keith Griffith, John Rogers, & Cully Hammer (introducing Jaime Reyes supporting cast his mother, his father, his sister, best friends Paco & Brenda, girlfriend Traci 13, Brenda's aunt and Jaime's archenemy La Dama, and a group of sometimes enemies/allies The Posse)

    Frank Miller and Klaus Jensen's original Daredevil run (1979-1983) is the best of all the 1980s comics but a close 2nd (to me) for Marvel is The Thing by John Byrne and Ron Wilson.

    Ennis coming back to more Punisher MAX would be a gift from God

    • @tadvantageous
      @tadvantageous 3 дні тому

      I've always felt that The Punisher had been stagnating as a character for years before Ennis' involvement. The character up until that point had shifted from a Charles Bronson (80's), a Rambo (90's), or a fookin stoopid post-human angelic warrior (late 90's), which was clearly borrowing from Spawn. I feel that Ennis also borrowed from popular culture for his vision, and his take was to make Frank into a sort of Jason Voorhees. Utterly competent, utterly committed. So committed, in fact, that he manages to seem post-human again, but this time in an insanely cool way. I love Ennis' work. He never fails to shock me, which I value deeply. Best comic writer of all time? I think so, for me, at least. I'm not easily shocked.

    I just can’t get over this nine minute and 37 second spot you’re saying marvel restaurant stuff and I just keep thinking you want new things. That’s what you say all the time you want something new it’s gotta be different blah blah blah and then you get something new and as soon as it’s there, you just, hate it as in God God is completely different than anything they have been doing or did before it’s just that bar was set so high with ox and pox. I think God would’ve set that bar high. If it came out first.

    Do you think you’d feel this way if God‘s came out before House and Powers that a bar was so high with that that you can’t seem to allow yourself to open up trying to do with gods. Because I believe the main reason gods failed wasn’t necessarily the story but the pricing that didn’t sell nearly as well as it should’ve because they charged 10 bucks for it, but with sales is low as they were, they should’ve been they didn’t even give it a chance. like think about it if God was your first hit marvel Hickman book at secret wars would you not have not been more open minded to it?

    G.O.D.S. was about the abstract entities we got to experience through the eyes of 2 mortals in love. The book itself shifted the perspective where -like in real life- people aren't always witness to the main event or in the centre of attention but only view little glimpses en bits and have to piece those together to make there own story or lesson out of it. While still not grasping the whole. The book was as abstract as the Abstract entities it featured. It's not meant to be understood: it's meant to make you feel like an insect. Or like you're passing a traffic accident at high-speed. "What happend I couldn't tell? We passed so fast I couldn't make heads or tails of it" feeling.

      HI, so, I find it interesting how it has an approach that I personally find very effective, especially for reaching younger audiences, whether due to the aesthetics, the dark elements of the plot and the characters themselves. I like how at the outset they don't have big concerns like saving the whole world or the universe from the beginning, as often happens in hero comics, but it's centered on their corner of the world. Furthermore, the fact that it is built slowly makes me feel something that I feel when reading manga in general, which is having time to get used to the characters, to live with them and they daily life, I think that makes it easier to relateble with the characters. This slow construction also stimulates my imagination a lot, I keep thinking a lot what will happen in the future, etc... For me, it is currently one of, if not the most powerful Marvel titles/run's, and I think it would be very smart if this were animated by a Japanese animation studio in the future, because if there is something that can actually speak to manga audiences, it is Ultimate X-men. I could mention other elements, such as the visual narrative itself, Peach Mamoko knows how to tell or show a story very well, everything seems very organic... yeah, I think that's it, i hope it last at least 20 editions... sorry for my English, i'm not from USA.

    X Force is wild as a series, because it almost felt like it was originally being written to be 18 issues, then when the Krakoa era took off it got even more rope and they then extended it out to be like 72 issues and then the want of a new era by July led to it ending at 50. the pacing felt so stop and start throughout that there’s no way for a conclusion that everyone connects with

    I became a comic book reader fairly recently, when an online article I read during 2019 about the new status quo of X-Men (specifically Xavier being able to walk again somehow) piqued my interest. I kinda forgot about it for a while, but subconsciously fed this growing curiosity of mine with Comicstorian and Comics Explained videos throughout a good chunk of 2019-2020. Come 2020, and I was fully along for the ride, especially pertaining to X-Men comics. That year, I got to read every bit of X of Swords in real time as it was happening, and it was during this time that I discovered Comic Book Herald. I cannot thank Dave and CBH enough for being my consistent weekly go-to X-Men/Marvel/Comics discussion hub that amazes me with how mostly objective it is but still manages to have some personal flair to it. Additionally, I always seem to find something interesting over at the My Marvelous Year podcast whenever I check it out. I always feel like other people's opinions of a comic book doesn't necessarily have to influence mine, because at the end of the day how you personally experienced a comic book is what ultimately matters, but never have I felt that more than with regards to X-Men # 700. I enjoyed every bit of it, and I was surprised by how much I was satisfied by everyone's writing/art here, even Duggan's. How each plot thread got wrapped up felt natural to me, and I even got teary-eyed during some parts. In short, X-Men # 700 is a perfect conclusion to my own experience of the Krakoa era. Now that Dave's weekly livestreams and occasional videos will likely slot in Ultimate Universe discussion as it cycles out the Krakoa era of X-Men, I wish Dave the best in maintaining the interesting mix of objectivity, reason, and personality that I've come to this channel for, week to week, for the past few years. Cheers!
